Elastomeric Coatings is like shrink- wrapping your building with a flexible waterproof coating. The finish looks like paint but is much thicker forming a rubber-like membrane that will allow the substrate to crack underneath up to a 1/8 inch without any visual appearance. These coatings are normally used on those projects that have had water penetration problems or severe cracking. It is important to use a contractor familiar with the products as preparation is extremely important. Transitions between dissimilar surfaces need to be saw cut and caulked to prevent water from getting behind the coating causing bags to appear.
